The Provincial Local Government Unit of Davao Occidental recently sponsored a provincewide Orientation on Barangay Anti-Drug Abuse Mandates, CBDRP Writeshop, and BIDA Program Launching. The first leg of this event took place in the municipality of Malita, with the participation of Barangay Officials from the said town. The orientation was held on March 18 and 19, 2024, at the Lecture Room, SPAMAST Main Campus, Poblacion, Malita, Davao Occidental.
To accommodate all the barangays in Malita, the orientation was divided into two days. Atty. Franklin P. Bautista, the Governor of the province, has committed to sponsoring a series of orientations in all five municipalities of Davao Occidental. Governor Bautista believes that this initiative will contribute to the BIDA Pledge of Commitment, which focuses on keeping lives safe and avoiding drugs. He emphasized the importance of all barangays in Davao Occidental dedicating themselves to reducing illegal drug demand in their communities.
The series of orientations will also be conducted in the other four municipalities of the province. Mayor Bradly Bautista of Malita expressed gratitude to Governor Bautista for his leadership and full support in organizing this significant orientation.
The success of the Orientation on Barangay Anti-Drug Abuse Mandates, CBDRP Writeshop, and BIDA Program Launching would not have been possible without the collaboration of the PLGU-Davao Occidental, the Municipal LGUs, the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), the Anti-Drug Abuse Council (ADAC), and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA).
After Malita, similar orientations will be conducted for the Barangay Officials of the municipalities of Sta. Maria, Don Marcelino, Jose Abad Santos, and Sarangani. These orientations will also be sponsored by the PLGU-Davao Occidental, particularly under its Provincial Anti-Drug Abuse Council (PADAC).
