International Women’s Month Celebration 2025: Strength in Unity, Power in Progress

In this year’s International Women’s Month, we acknowledge the achievements and contributions of every woman in our province. This month-long celebration is also an opportunity to bring much focus on advocating women’s equality and awareness on inclusion, strengthening commitment in helping impose their rights.

The Provincial Government of Davao Occidental, in collaboration with the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO), has organized a series of activities in celebration of Women’s Month.

An Advocacy Session on Women Empowerment was held last March 12 at the Sangguniang Panlalawigan Building. Graced by FABC President/ Chairwoman Committee on Human Rights and Family, Hon. Bianca Ricci Bautista-Navarra, the symposium also saw various topics shared through the expertise of Provincial Administrator, Atty. Geoffrey Navarra Jr., Ms. Farhaana M. Faiz of DILG Davao Occidental, Ms. Marilou E. Borra, PHRMO head and Dr. Kathleen A. Luceñara. The symposium was a success, with positive discussions, insightful presentations, and active participation of PLGU women employees.

The celebration came to an end last March 14 at the ABC Gymnasium Malita. The occasion started with a Eucharistic celebration officiated by Rev. Fr. Saturnino Andoy, DCD in which members of various women’s groups, PLGU employees, and government officials took part. This was followed by the distribution of assistive devices. Atty. Leonor Oralde- Quintayo, chairperson of the NCIP Davao Occidental, shared her empowering message that women play a very important role in our society. “Women build families and communities, teach and pass knowledge, bring political and social change, shape morals, advocate for health and wellness and come up with scientific and technological innovation. Women are everywhere, woman is power,” she added.

These events filled with much importance speak of the recognition to all the women in our province and the vision that they bring forth inspiration and passion to the community.
